Spring
The city hosts separate parades celebrating St Patrick's Day in March and Easter in April. In May, don't miss a chance to taste something delicious at the Ninth Avenue International Food Festival.
Summer
Met in the Parks stage a series of operas with performances in all five boroughs. The events are free and run in June and July. July also sees Independence Day celebrations and some large dance events, such as Midsummer Night's Swing where the dance floor opens at 6pm and dance lessons are available.
The New York City Tap Festival is held every July in Manhattan and celebrates the art of tap dancing. It encourages beginners and experienced dancers to get involved. August's highlight is the US Open Tennis Tournament.
Autumn
Celebrate Italian culture, food and music at the Feast of San Gennaro in September. In October find a bargain at the Union Square Autumn Fair when more than 200 merchants from America and abroad can be found as well as restaurants and arts and crafts. And in November you can search out unique crafts, food and music at the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival.

The main event of December is Times Square New Year's Eve. January features several significant antique events, including the Winter Antiques Show. Chinese New Year is celebrated in the streets and at Radio City Music Hall in February.
