Off the beaten track
AntalyaThis area has seen something of a renaissance in recent years, with many of the wooden Ottoman mansions being restored and turned into boutique hotels. There are plenty of interesting pieces in the Archaeological Museum, from the Palaeolithic Age right through to Ottoman times.
Antalya has a backdrop of stunning mountain scenery, and the city is set high on cliffs, with many of its grandest hotels overlooking the sea on the outskirts of the town.
The beach area of Lara, approximately 12 km to the east is home to the best beach in the area, known for its golden sand, which is rapidly becoming a resort in its own right. Spectacular destination for a family holiday or a couples retreat this summer.
Heading up into the mountains, you can make the most of the beautiful scenery by visiting the spectacular Düden or Kurşunlu waterfalls. At Saklıkent, just 50 km away from the city centre, you can even ski, where they usually have snow on the slopes until early April. There are many holiday resorts like Alanya, Belek, Kalkan, Kaş, Kekova, Kemer, Olympos, Patara, Side within the borders of Antalya region.
Cesme
Cesme is a charming convergence of healing mineral springs, excellent beaches, crystal clear waters and sun, making it a perfect spot for those on vacation. It is located 94 km west of Izmir, on the very tip of the peninsula that bears its name.
It was called as the 'little harbor' by sailors, but in the course of time, the area became known as Cesme (Fountain) due to the increasing number of fountains with ice - cold waters.Visitors can enjoy unspoiled bays, excellent holiday accommodation, restaurants, and sports and entertainment facilities for all the family to enjoy.
Thermal baths offer a healthy break from the rigors of modern life.Excellent shopping is available, with a good selection of carpets, leather goods and souvenirs. At night, a lively atmosphere pervades, especially in the restaurants, cafes, bars and discos along the promenade.
Alacati
Turkey's Aegean shores are among the most fascinating and beautiful stretches in the country. The magnificent coastline, lapped by the clear water of the Aegean Sea, with landscapes of cultivated fields of aniseed, sesame and artichokes dotted with fig and gum trees, will guide you to discover one of the world's greatest windsurfing destinations in Alaçati bay on the Cesme peninsula.
With its 1.8 kilometre width, over 5 km depth, crystal clear waters, azure blue skies, consistent and steady winds, topography and location Alacati is an ideal windsurfing spot in Europe.Both, the very shape of the bay and the thermal water pressures, create steady and consistent winds blowing side-shore from North to South (Poyraz) in summer and from South to North (Lodos) in winter months.
First time windsurfers love the place as the waist-deep and sand covered shallow water area extends for 500 metres from shore into the bay creating perfect conditions for beginners of all ages. Easy recovery from falls adds a new dimension to both teaching and learning to windsurf.
