Where to find Avis at Newark International Airport
You’ll find our Avis location at Newark Liberty International Airport located within the new Terminal A parking garage. On arrival follow the signs directing you to the rental car facility. Please proceed over the sky bridge and into the garage. Take the escalator to the 3rd floor, where you will find our office. If you are arriving at Terminals B or C, get off the train at Terminal A. Proceed downstairs to the exit and follow the parking garage signs to the right. Continue for approximately 5 minutes to the 1st floor parking garage lobby. Take the escalator to the 3rd floor, where you will find our location.
How to get from Newark International Airport to Newark
The drive into the centre of Newark from Newark International Airport is just 4.5 miles and will take around 10min depending on traffic conditions and the time of day. You’ll head north east on US Route 9 and join the McCarter Highway following signs to Newark Downtown.

While you are in Newark, you’re in reach of so many landmarks for day trips including the Weequahic Park, 300 acres of parkland and gardens including an 80-acre lake. Branch Brook Park offers a great view of Newark’s cathedral and hosts a cherry blossom festival in spring. In Newark itself, stop off at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, or for epic sport get a ticket at the Prudential Center. North of Newark, don’t miss a visit to the home of Franklin D Roosevelt. Neighbouring New York is a short 30min drive away but if you tire of city life, the area has so many national parks and reserves or you can just cruise down Highway 27A for a tour of Long Island and seek out some laid-back beach life in the Hamptons.

Tips for driving in Newark
Visitors to Newark find driving in the area a great travel option. Be aware that traffic can get heavy during rush hour periods which are considered to run between 6am-10am and 3pm and 8pm.
