Sorbas caves

Travel 40 minutes to Sorbas to view a network of unusual crystal caves that stretch across 50km of underground tunnels. From the surface, a number of sinkholes are visible creating perfect points of entry. Take a tour through the labyrinth and observe crystal deposits, stalagmites, stalactites and other mysterious underground formations.

Sierra Nevada

An hour-and-a-half drive from Almeria will get you to the Sierra Nevada. Meaning ‘Snowy Range’ in English, this popular tourist attraction offers skiing during the winter months, but as it’s located near the Mediterranean Sea, the area is also known for its milder temperatures. The Sierra Nevada National Park is also situated here and gives visitors the chance to get to explore the area’s stunning wildlife, including Golden Eagles, Spanish ibex and wild boar.

Parque Natural Cabo de Gata-Nijar

This natural park, only a 20-minute drive from Almeria, offers visitors the chance to observe some of the most unusual geological features in all of Europe. The towering volcanic rock formations of El Fraile descend to meet the Mediterranean Sea where magnificent white-sand beaches and plenty of secret coves can be found.
