Picking up your hire car at Avis Southampton Airport:
From the arrivals / baggage claim follow signs to the exit. Once in the main hall, go through the doors directly in front of the exit.
On exiting the building turn right and proceed to the pedestrian crossing leading into the multi-storey car park. Once across the pedestrian crossing, and prior to entering the car park, you will find the Car Rental Office, situated to the left. The Avis desk is located in this building, and is where you will collect your keys and sign the paperwork.
Avis Southampton Airport car rental spaces are located at the far end of the short-term car park on the same level. Your rental vehicle will be parked in a designated Avis Rent A Car bay. You will have been given an exit ticket so you can exit the car park. Follow the signage to exit the car park itself and take a left turn once you have passed through the exit barrier. Once you leave Southampton Airport, follow the signs for the major road networks.

Plan your journey from Southampton Airport
The airport is just over 4 miles away from the centre of town, so your Southampton car hire will get you into the city in under 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Once there, you’ll want to head down to the large, impressive harbour, which has been a significant trading spot for England and Europe for several centuries. It was also bombed heavily during WW2, due to its strategic importance.
The SeaCity Museum is a great place to learn more about the town’s past, with a focus on the construction and departure of the famous Titanic cruise liner, as well as the history of trade in the area. There are also a number of contemporary art galleries with impressive collections, particularly around the city’s Cultural Quarter.
