Cartagena

Drive southeast for just under 30 minutes to reach the coastal city of Cartagena. Here you’ll discover a wealth of museums, historic buildings and churches, as well as numerous archaeological sites. The charming old town presents a maze of narrow streets, while the waterfront is packed with cafes, bars and restaurants.

Sierra de la Pila

Head north via the A-30 and around 90 minutes later you’ll arrive in Sierra de la Pila. This stunningly beautiful conservation area and regional park is blessed with an abundance of wildlife. Head off on one of the area’s numerous hiking and waking trails and keep your eyes peeled for hawks, wild cats and eagles.

There are numerous beach resorts in the Murcia region, but Aguilas – with its 34km stretch of coastline – is a real hot spot. Just over an hour’s drive from Murcia Bartolome Panos Perez, it’s ideal for scuba diving. If you want a break from sunbathing, the old town provides a pleasant distraction. Explore its many shops and restaurants, plus the fortress of San Juan de Aguilas.
