How to get from Avis Mostoles to Mostoles City Centre by car
Avis Mostoles is located on the northern edge of the central district of Mostoles. To reach the heart of the city it’s a 3.7km drive, a trip of under 10min.
Turn right out of the rental garage and head south on Calle Margarita. At the roundabout take the first exit onto Av. del Alcalde de Mostoles. You’ll pass the university campus on your right and then at the next roundabout take the 4th exit onto Calle Granada and arrive at the city centre.
Things to do in Mostoles
While it forms part of the urban fringe of Madrid, Mostoles has some places of interest if you are planning on spending time in the area. Head for the Plaza de Ernesto Peces to step inside the oldest building in the municipality, the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, divert to Plaza del Pradillo with its monument in memory of the town’s mayor Mostoles Andrés Torrejón García who stood against occupying forces in 1808.
Stop by the City Museum, home to a wonderful collection of artefacts telling the city’s history. If you need to step away from the urban landscape, Mostoles is blessed with plenty of green space. Spend time in the El Soto Natural Park with its walking trails and watersports. Or stroll through the Finca Liana Park with its tranquil gardens, water features and native species. Sports fans may know of Mostoles as the birthplace of Iker Casillas, the great Spanish goalkeeper. You can visit the Iker Casillas municipal football stadium and even watch a match.
For a complete change of pace and some serious retail therapy, don’t miss Madrid Xanadú, a vast shopping mall and entertainment venue, just a 10min drive south along the A5 Motorway from the centre of Mostoles. With 222 stores to browse plus a huge range of food outlets and a 15-screen cinema, this is a shopper’s paradise and you may find you need more than a day here.

Toledo
Just under an hour’s drive south of Mostoles along the A42 toll road, the magical medieval city of Toledo beckons. Known as the city of three cultures, Toledo’s history blends Christian, Jewish and Muslim influences. Don’t miss the city’s Gothic Cathedral, the impressive Alcazar Fortress with its military museum, the ancient Jewish quarter with its narrow streets and Synagogue or the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz, a fine example of Islamic architecture.
Toledo is justifiably famous for its cuisine and no visit to the city would be complete without sampling the local dishes in one of the city’s popular restaurants.
Aranjuez
Drive around 45min southeast of Mostoles along the M506 and A4 highways and after 50km you’ll reach the golden city of Aranjuez. On the banks of the River Tagus and home to the Royal Palace, the spring residence of Spain’s kings and queens, Aranjuez has earned the distinction of being a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Segovia
Head to the stunning city of Segovia which you can reach in just an hour’s drive north of Mostoles via the A61 toll road. The city is famous for its well-preserved Roman aqueduct which has more than 160 arches. With its rich history, fortress, fine Cathedral and numerous churches, Segovia is a magical city, made even more photogenic against the backdrop of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range.
Is it worth hiring a car in Mostoles?
While there is public transport with a bus, train and metro network in the city of Mostoles, for independent, flexible travel, you will need a hire car to travel further afield and explore a wider area.

Tips for driving in Mostoles
Central Spain has a fantastic road network of national highways and cross-continental motorways and Mostoles is well located to access the major routes making it a great base for your trip to the region. However, many routes are designated Autopistas peajes or toll roads, so it’s worth checking your journey and updating your sat nav to your preferences before you set off - you might want the fastest route or to avoid tolls or take the most scenic option.
