Lublin’s core is just a 20-minute drive from Lublin Airport via Melgiewska/DW822. Start your journey with a visit to the Tower of the Trinity, especially for the panoramic view of Lublin Old Town spread around four hills. Next, visit Lublin Castle, a neo-gothic fortress that was a prison until 1954. Here you can wander around the Lublin Museum to learn about the years of Stalinist rule and the Nazi occupation.
You’ll want to spend lots of time in Lublin’s Old Town. There are over 100 historic mansions in this small area and the best way to see them is from the Krakovian Gate, built in the 14th century. Visit the Maria Curie Sklodowska University Botanic Garden to see its collection of 6,000 species of plants. Also take in the old residence of the Kosciuszko family or the Museum of the Lublinian Region. Masovia
To see another of Poland’s charming areas, take route DK79 for two hours to reach the Masovia region. The Zelazowa Wola park and manor house are worth visiting, especially since Chopin was born here. There is also a museum devoted to him onsite. Check out Nieborow Baroque Palace and spend some time in the Arkadia garden.
Warsaw
Warsaw is just a two-hour drive on the DK17/E372 from Lublin. This bustling city is the place to go if you want to learn all about Poland’s past. Visit the Museum of the Uprising, detailing the Polish people’s struggle against Nazi occupation. Other interesting attractions are the market square and the Palace of Science and Culture, the tallest building in Poland.
Kazimierz Dolny
Architecture lovers will be excited to see Kazimierz Dolny, located just under an hour from Lublin on the S12. This pretty destination has a castle complex, a synagogue and many religious buildings. The Vistula Museum is where you can learn all about it. Visit the market square and don’t miss the St John the Baptist and St Bartholomew the Apostle Parish Church.
