Córdoba is one of those cities that radiates a special cultural wealth. Once under the power of the Roman Empire, it was also the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate. 

Mosque of Cordoba: the most important monument in the entire Islamic West and one of the most amazing in the world. Its history summarises the evolution of the Umayyad style in Spain, in addition to the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles of Christian construction. It consists of two distinct areas, the arcaded courtyard, where the minaret rises, and the prayer hall. Inside you will find the two-colour columns and arcades of great chromatic effect and the Christian cathedral that was built after the Reconquest.

Synagogue: One of the only three Hebrew temples preserved in Spain together with the Synagogue of Transit and Santa María la Blanca, both in Toledo. Its interior is decorated with inscriptions of Hebrew psalms. Highlights include the lobby and the prayer hall, exquisitely decorated.

Jewish Quarter: Active between the 10th and 15th centuries, the quarter today offers today one of the most pleasant walks in the city. Through its narrow streets and beautiful houses you can delve into the history of Córdoba.

On your route you can not miss the Velázquez Bosco streets, Calleja de las Flores, Céspedes street and Hoguera street and the obligatory stop points such as the souk, the synagogue and the Alcazar.

Palace of the Marquises of Viana: its interior is distributed around 12 beautiful courtyards. It also has collections of porcelain, paintings, antique furniture and an extensive library.

Cristo de los Faroles: in the Plaza de los Capuchinos this monument is located. It is one of the most popular figures of Christ in Cordoba. The image is surrounded by eight lanterns that, especially at night, attract a lot of attention.

Puente Romano: picturesque bridge that offers a beautiful photo for tourists. It was built in the first century and was the only one existing at the time, until the 20th century. 

In the surroundings of Córdoba there are some enclaves that are well worth visiting. For this you will need a rental car.

Medina Azahara: archaeological site very close to the city. Here you will find the remains of this palatine city that Abd al-Rahman III built to be the capital of the Caliphate, royal residence and seat of government. They are currently in the process of restoration, although you can visit some areas, where you will see the sumptuousness with which it was built, such as the wall, the House of the Visires, the remains of the Aljama Mosque and the gardens.

Las Ermitas: 40 minutes' drive from Cordoba this set of 13 hermitages located on the Hill of Vipers, served as accommodation for hermits who retired to the foothills of Sierra Morena to meditate and lead a life of austerity.

Hornachuelos: located in the same Sierra Morena, Hornachuelos is about 50 kilometres from Córdoba. The Natural Park surrounds this town, giving it a great attraction and, as if that were not enough, its old town has a special charm, where you can appreciate its Arab structure, with beautiful narrow streets.
